Although Open Enrollment 2015 ended on February 15th, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Below is a list of qualifying events and circumstances that will allow you to buy Individual Health coverage now that Open Enrollment has closed.

• Got married

• Had a baby

• Got a divorce & need to come off of spouse’s plan

• Adopted a child or had a child placed with you for foster care

• Death of a spouse

• Moved outside your health plan’s coverage area

• Had a change in income or lost Employer health insurance

• Gained citizenship or lawful presence in the U.S.

• Released from incarceration

If so, you have 60 days from the event date to purchase coverage. If you let the 60 days pass, you will have to wait until Open Enrollment 2016 begins, to purchase coverage (exact date has not yet been determined).
